The 1968 Porsche 912 has been in my family for decades. My dad bought it from a private seller in 1987, completely wrecked and in need of everything. He took it to a master painter and body shop in Caldwell owned by Olin, and over the next four years the car went through a full transformation—exterior, interior, engine, all of it. My mom even helped with the restoration and installed the interior headliner herself. During those years, our family took yearly trips to Hawaii, and every visit included stops at different shops to hunt down Porsche parts to bring back home. When the car was finally finished, it came home and lived in the garage like a treasured museum piece. I still remember getting off the school bus and running my hands down the side of it, leaving tiny fingerprints my dad would spot the moment he walked in. And every time, I’d get a talking‑to, because nobody touched “Baby.” This is the first car show this car has ever been entered in, and I am honored to represent my father and all the hard work he poured into his treasure. – In memory of my father, Bob Williams
